YIL Apprentice 2026 Vacancy Details

YIL will impart apprenticeship training in different Ordnance and Ordnance Equipment Factories located in states such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Odisha and others. Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Minimum age:
    • 14 years for general/non‑hazardous trades
    • 18 years for trades related to hazardous industries
  • Maximum age: 35 years for all categories as per NAPS‑2 guidelines

Age is to be reckoned as per conditions laid down in the advertisement and Apprentice Act.

Educational Qualification (as on 03 March 2026)

Non‑ITI Category

  • Must have passed Madhyamik / Class X or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • Minimum 50% marks in aggregate as per the criteria of the concerned board.
  • Minimum 40% marks in both Mathematics and Science individually.

Ex‑ITI Category

  • Must have passed the relevant ITI trade test from an institute recognised by NCVT/SCVT or as notified by the competent authority, with trade duration as per the Apprentice Act.
  • Minimum 50% marks in the ITI final/provisional examination.
  • Must also have passed Madhyamik / Class X or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Stipend

Stipend will be paid as per the Apprentice Act 1961, Apprenticeship Rules 1992 and the latest orders of the Government of India:

  • Ex‑ITI (ITI passed): ₹ 9,600 per month

Selection Process

Selection is based purely on merit and the choice of Ordnance Factory indicated by the candidate in the online form.

Non‑ITI Candidates

  • Factory‑wise merit list prepared based on percentage of marks in Class 10.
  • Marks considered as per board rules (overall aggregate or best of five subjects).
  • In case of CGPA/GPA or grade‑based results (A+, A, B+, etc.), percentage must be entered as per the conversion formula prescribed by the respective board.
  • Trades are allotted by each factory on a merit‑cum‑choice basis after selection.

Ex‑ITI Candidates

  • Factory‑wise and trade‑wise merit list.
  • Merit based on simple average of percentage marks in Matriculation and ITI (with minimum 50% in each).
  • ITI marks as per provisional/final certificate are considered.

Tie‑breaking

  • If two candidates obtain the same percentage, the older candidate is placed higher.
  • If dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier is preferred.
  • If both year of passing and date of birth match, alphabetical order of the candidate’s name is used.

Provisionally selected candidates will be called for document verification and medical examination at the respective Ordnance Factory. Only medically fit candidates with verified documents will be finally engaged.


Reservation

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (Non‑Creamy Layer) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PH) is applicable as per:
