- Minimum 50% in English in Diploma or in 10th/12th if English was not a subject in Diploma.
OR
- Two‑year Vocational Course with non‑vocational subjects Physics and Mathematics from a recognised Board with:
- Minimum 50% aggregate, and
- Minimum 50% in English in Vocational course or in 10th/12th.
Other than Science Subjects:
- 10+2 / Intermediate in any stream from a recognised Board with at least:
- 50% aggregate, and
- 50% in English.
OR
- Two‑year Vocational Course from a recognised Board with at least:
- 50% aggregate, and
- 50% in English (either in the course or in 10th/12th).
Candidates eligible for Science Subjects can choose to appear in both Science and Other than Science papers in one sitting.

Medical Standards (Key Points)
- Height:
- Male: minimum 152 cm.
- Female: minimum 152 cm; relaxation to 147 cm (North‑East / hilly Uttarakhand) and 150 cm (Lakshadweep) with clear domicile endorsement.
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per IAF norms.
- Chest:
- Male: minimum 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion.
- Female: well‑proportioned chest with minimum 5 cm expansion.
- Hearing: Normal; must hear forced whisper at 6 m in each ear separately.
- Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, minimum 14 dental points; fixed or removable orthodontic braces are unfit.

- Visual acuity 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6.
- Hypermetropia up to +2.0 D, myopia up to −1.0 D (including 0.50 D astigmatism).

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
PFT‑I – 1.6 km run:
