Definition of Work Experience

For eligibility, MECON treats experience as follows:

  • Experience must be in a full-time job on regular salary basis in the relevant area specified for the post.
  • For intermittent jobs, only actual full-time working days are counted.
  • Freelance and entrepreneurial experience are not considered.
  • On-the-job training as MT/ET/GT in PSUs counts as work experience.
  • Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 is counted (with certificates from statutory body and training organization).
  • Articleship, internship, academic projects, teaching and research are not treated as experience; industrial/vocational training as part of curriculum is also not counted.

Age Limit and Relaxation

  • Base upper age limit for all posts: 50 years as on 02.02.2026.
  • SC/ST: Relaxation of 5 years.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Relaxation of 3 years.
