Apollo Tyres Ltd
Job overview
Apollo Tyres Ltd, a leading tyre manufacturer with plants in India and facilities in the Netherlands and Hungary, is hiring a Manager – Deployment Planner for its Supply Chain function in Gurgaon (Job ID: req2038). The role focuses on using advanced planning tools to optimise tyre distribution across India, balancing product availability, logistics efficiency, and customer service.
Purpose of the role
The Manager – Deployment Planner is responsible for using Advanced Planning Systems (APS), inventory management techniques, and truck‑load optimisation to move tyre products efficiently across Apollo’s supply chain in India. The position aims to ensure that the right products reach the right stocking locations on time, while controlling inventory levels and supporting sales demand in the tyre market.
Key responsibilities
-
Build norm‑based deployment plans for a large supply chain network that includes multiple plants, national distribution centres (NDCs), regional distribution centres (RDCs), and local distribution centres (LDCs).
-
Create optimal truck‑load plans and suggest stock transfer orders (STOs) that maximise vehicle utilisation while meeting service levels.
-
Calculate net requirements at different network nodes by considering on‑hand inventory (with ageing validation), open sales orders, demand signals, existing STOs, and in‑transit stock.
-
Use APS or similar systems to run deployment scenarios; prior exposure to APS‑based deployment planning is a strong plus.
-
Analyse month‑to‑date sales trends, market conditions, and planning parameters on a daily basis to generate and validate deployment plans.
-
Coordinate closely with manufacturing and logistics teams to create replenishment plans that reduce stock‑outs and avoid excess inventory.
-
Align production schedules with deployment needs and market demand by collaborating with production and wider supply chain teams.
-
Ensure timely and cost‑effective deliveries to all stocking nodes, optimising for lead times, costs, and service‑level expectations.
-
Contribute to designing and governing a segmentation‑based deployment strategy, and communicate this effectively with stakeholders across manufacturing and sales.
-
Track and report key performance indicators such as fill rates/stock‑outs, inventory turnover, and order cycle times, using Excel and APS tools to improve planning quality.
-
Perform root‑cause analysis (RCA) for deployment misses, stock‑out incidents, and other service issues, and drive corrective actions.
-
Work with sales, marketing, and procurement teams to resolve supply chain challenges and keep plans aligned with strategic priorities.
-
Prepare regular reports and analytical dashboards on deployment performance, inventory health, and forecasting accuracy for management review.
Skills and profile
-
Strong knowledge of net requirements calculation in a planning context.
-
High level of comfort with Excel or other data‑analysis tools for day‑to‑day deployment and KPI tracking.
-
Solid quantitative and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
-
Familiarity with ERP platforms, APS, or other supply‑chain planning software is highly desirable.
-
Agile mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work with manufacturing, logistics, sales, and procurement teams.
-
Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills suited to a dynamic supply‑chain environment.
Education and experience
-
Experience: 3–4 years of hands‑on experience in supply‑chain planning or related operational planning roles.
-
Education:
-
Master’s degree in business applications or supply chain (or closely related field).
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or science.
