Job Profile: Library Professional Assistant

The selected candidates will support the Learning Centre (Library) in academic and operational activities. The role requires expertise in library management systems, digital resources, and academic research support.

The position involves collaboration with faculty, research scholars, and students, ensuring smooth library services and resource access.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates will perform several academic and operational library tasks, including:

  • Assist in procurement of print and electronic library resources
  • Handle cataloguing, classification, and metadata processing using standards such as DDC and MARC21
  • Manage circulation services including issue/return, membership, and overdue management
  • Provide reference services and research support to faculty and students
  • Support electronic resource access and troubleshooting
  • Guide users in accessing OPAC, digital repositories, and discovery tools
  • Conduct library orientation programs and awareness sessions
  • Prepare MIS reports, library statistics, and documentation
  • Maintain library technology systems such as Koha, DSpace, RFID, and ERMS
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of library records and inventory
  • Perform shift duties including evenings and weekends when required

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have:

  • Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science (MLISc)
  • Minimum First Class or equivalent grade
  • Degree from a recognized university or institute

Work Experience

Candidates must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience in academic or research libraries

  • IIMs
  • IITs
  • NITs
  • Other Institutions of National Importance
