Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 27 March 2026)
- Maximum age: 30 years (born on or after 28 March 1996).
- Age relaxation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Ex‑servicemen as per Government of India guidelines, subject to a maximum upper age of 45 years after all relaxations.
Educational Qualification
- Minimum three‑year Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following from a recognized University:
- Arts (other than Fine Arts / Performing Arts)
- Commerce
- Science
- Computer Applications
- Business Administration
- Desirable: Proficiency in computer applications such as SAP, MS Project, MS Office etc.
Important points:
- Qualifications must be from a University/Institute/Board recognized by the appropriate statutory authority/State/Central Government.
- Candidates holding equivalent qualifications must produce an Equivalency Certificate from a competent authority.
- Candidates without the prescribed base qualification but with higher qualifications such as B.Tech, M.Sc etc. will not be considered.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum 2 years’ experience in customs clearance and related activities (reckoned as on 09 March 2026).
- Desirable:
- Experience with a Customs House Agent (CHA)
- Experience in dealing with Customs officials, preparation of reports and filing monthly returns as per IGCR rules
- Hands‑on experience on ICEGATE portal
- Experience in handling legal issues/disputes related to Customs

Contract Tenure and Posting
- Tenure: Up to 5 years on contract, subject to project requirements and individual performance.
- Posting: At CSL, Kochi or any CSL project site, with liability for transfer across different units, departments, work sites and on‑board ships as per organisational needs.

- Consolidated pay: ₹24,400 per month during the first year of contract.

Selection Process
The selection will be conducted at Cochin Shipyard Limited, Kochi, through the following stages:
Stage‑wise Evaluation
- Objective Type Test – 50 marks
- Duration: 60 minutes
- 50 Multiple Choice Questions
- Areas: General (10 marks) and Subject‑based (40 marks)
- Each question carries 1 mark
- No negative marking
- Descriptive Type Test – 20 marks
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Focus on activities related to customs clearance
- PowerPoint Presentation – 30 marks

Total marks: 100.
Qualifying Marks and Rank List
- For Unreserved post: Minimum 50% of total marks in each of the Objective and Descriptive tests.
- For PwBD candidates: Minimum 40% of total marks in each of the Objective and Descriptive tests.
- CSL may relax minimum pass marks if the number of qualified candidates is insufficient.
A rank list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks in Objective Test, Descriptive Test and PowerPoint Presentation. In case of a tie, marks in the subject portion of the Objective Test will be considered first; if still tied, seniority in age will decide the rank.
Shortlisting for tests will be based on scrutiny of online applications and uploaded certificates, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for the selection process.
