Job Overview

The Design Engineer – CHO Projects Structure role is part of the Engineering & Technology function and focuses on structural design and project engineering activities within hydrocarbon or heavy industry projects. Key Responsibilities

In this role, the selected candidate will assist the Lead Discipline Engineer in delivering structural engineering outputs within committed project schedules while preparing monthly progress reports and ensuring strict adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) norms. The engineer will be responsible for preparing and checking structural designs and Material Take-Off (MTO), reviewing and issuing IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, and regularly examining 3D models using appropriate model review tools to ensure clash-free integration. The position involves compilation of engineering data banks and documentation, field engineering support, and performing structural analysis and design calculations using approved software tools.

The candidate will maintain record prints, check prints, and engineering checklists, upload native files as per Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) requirements, and allocate engineering inputs to draftsmen and designers. Responsibilities also include reviewing interfaces for IFC drawings, approving vendor design documents, preparing engineering deliverables with emphasis on safety compliance and QMS standards, and maintaining project-specific records such as input documents and checklists. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to standardization initiatives including updating standard drawings, design guides, and specifications, while supporting field engineering activities and SER closure processes.


Educational Qualification

Necessary:

  • Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university

(Structural/Civil Engineering background preferred based on role requirements.)


Experience Requirement

  • Minimum 03 years of detail engineering experience
  • Experience in hydrocarbon or other heavy industries
  • Includes minimum 1 year of training within total experience

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in StaadPro (Mandatory)
  • Working knowledge of STADD FDN, GTStrudl, SAP2000, ETABS & SAFE (added advantage)
  • Familiarity with working in 3D engineering environments
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including development of engineering calculation templates and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of Mathcad (preferred)

Soft Skills

  • Good written and spoken English
  • Awareness of QMS processes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
