Job Purpose

The Licensed Aircraft Engineer – I is responsible for carrying out routine aircraft maintenance and servicing tasks in full compliance with manufacturers’ instructions, local aviation regulations and Emirates safety procedures. The role ensures that all assigned zones and aircraft are maintained strictly in accordance with approved technical documentation, notices and procedures issued by regulators and Emirates Engineering.

You must also ensure that your personal licenses and company approvals remain valid and correctly endorsed for the aircraft types you work on, through close coordination with Quality Assurance and the GCAA. The position plays a critical part in supporting on‑time performance by attending aircraft arrivals and departures promptly, maximising ground‑time opportunities and avoiding operational delays or disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance & Documentation

• Perform routine and non‑routine aircraft maintenance and servicing tasks exactly as per approved aircraft documentation, technical notices, quality notices and engineering procedures.

• Ensure all maintenance actions comply with the latest revisions of technical publications, including AMM, IPC and vendor documentation.

• Maintain your license and company approvals valid and type‑rated for the Emirates aircraft you work on, in coordination with Quality Assurance and the GCAA.

• Support audits and process checks to ensure the highest possible standard of maintenance with the available resources.

Cost Control & Use of Resources

• Handle off‑aircraft tasks such as spares handling, robberies and hold items strictly in line with company procedures, ensuring transparent, accurate paperwork.

• Confirm that all tooling and equipment used are serviceable, calibrated where required and appropriate for the task, including specialised tools.

• Apply robbery procedures appropriately to reduce costs and avoid repeated attempts at defect rectification by aiming for a right‑first‑time approach.

• Follow troubleshooting procedures carefully and use tools and spares efficiently so that fault rectification is both timely and cost‑effective.

• Help reduce DBNUs (Did But Not Used) by ordering spares and materials effectively and only when required.

Resource Utilisation

• Use available manpower and resources to support operational targets and milestones set by Emirates Engineering.

• Carry out component changes as part of troubleshooting when directed by your supervisor, using the relevant AMM, IPC or vendor documentation.

• Ensure that all resources under your influence are used efficiently to support business and operational needs.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Closely monitor all activities performed by yourself and personnel you oversee to ensure strict adherence to safety rules, regulations and company procedures.

• Proactively highlight any safety or equipment deficiencies through formal reporting tools as part of the quality improvement process.

• Actively support and promote a strong safety culture, helping minimise incidents and accidents by identifying potential risks and failures early.

• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in all work locations, including ramp areas, stands, lockers, vehicles and toolboxes, and remain vigilant against FOD.

• Be fully conversant with airport safety regulations and manoeuvring‑area requirements and hold/maintain a valid airport driving permit where required.

Communications & Reporting

• Maintain effective two‑way communication with managers, senior engineers and junior staff to ensure seamless operational information flow.

• Complete detailed reports on service delays, incidents and accidents, clearly capturing all contributing factors and events.

• Ensure technical and operational documentation is completed accurately to support short‑term maintenance planning and defect rectification by relevant sections.

• Review activities regularly and contribute to process improvements wherever possible.

People Management & HR Responsibilities

• When supervising others, conduct fair and timely performance reviews using the company’s performance tools, documenting strengths and gaps clearly.

• Identify deficiencies or unmet objectives during interim reviews and agree on action plans for improvement.

• Guide, coach and counsel junior staff, including National and Expat trainees, and support their development plans.

• Ensure staff under your control (and yourself) accurately clock on and clock off job cards while performing duties.

• Be ready to assume duties and responsibilities of shift manager or senior engineer when delegated by the section manager.

Training & Continuous Development

• Attend required training modules to enhance technical skills, safety awareness and understanding of Emirates Engineering procedures.

• Undergo recurrent Human Factors training at least once every two years to comply with CAR 145 requirements.

• Convert completed training courses into company approvals within expected timelines so that your authorization scope remains up to date.

Adaptability & Deployment

• Be available for deployment anywhere across the Emirates operation, including diversionary airfields, to support AOG (Aircraft on Ground) recovery.

• When required, act as Emirates’ representative at aircraft or component manufacturers’ facilities to oversee final assembly, outsourced maintenance, and acceptance/delivery processes.

• Be willing to undertake flying duties or postings to outstations to support operational needs and maintenance recovery activities.

Experience

• Experience in an aviation maintenance environment with at least 5 years of certifying experience as a license holder.
