About the Petrophysicist Role

As a Petrophysicist, you will lead the design, execution, and interpretation of logging programmes across Exploration & Production assets. You will be responsible for ensuring high‑quality log data acquisition, processing, and petrophysical evaluation to feed static and dynamic models and support key business decisions.

This role is ideal for professionals with strong technical skills in log analysis, integrated formation evaluation, and unconventional reservoirs, who enjoy working closely with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design detailed scopes of work for logging services in line with project and reservoir objectives.

  • Evaluate EOI and technical bids for logging services, ensuring technical fit and value.

  • Monitor logs in real time, perform QA/QC, and ensure high‑quality data acquisition.

  • Condition log data and manage log data analysis workflows with appropriate software tools.

  • Handle log data analysis software to interpret conventional and advanced log suites.

  • Select side‑wall core points, formation tester pre‑test and sample depths based on log response.

  • Process and analyse advanced logs such as sonic waveform, image logs, and NMR data.

  • Perform petrophysical evaluation and provide average reservoir parameters at the well level for geological model building and resource estimation.

  • Identify petrophysical facies by integrating log data, image logs, and core (RCA and SCAL) data for static geological modelling and Integrated Subsurface Description (ISD).

  • Conduct petrophysical evaluation of unconventional reservoirs and support their characterisation.

  • Raise PRs and verify vendor invoices related to logging and petrophysical services.

  • Evaluate casing and cement bond logs to assess well integrity and cement quality.

  • Ensure adherence to log data compliance standards and internal data management guidelines.

  • Perform QC on vendor deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and completeness.

  • Support and deliver log data acquisition and processing within budget and schedule.

Education Requirement

  • Master’s degree in Geophysics or Geology from a recognised university.

An advanced degree ensures a strong foundation in rock physics, log interpretation, and subsurface evaluation, which are central to this role.

Experience Requirement

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Exploration & Production (E&P).

  • Very strong technical abilities in integrated formation evaluation and petrophysical interpretation.

Hands‑on experience with advanced logs, unconventional reservoirs, and integrated studies will be particularly valuable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Detailed knowledge of principles and applications of different logging tools and log types.

  • Strong capability in integrated formation evaluation, combining logs, cores, and image data.

  • Proficiency in log conditioning, QA/QC, and advanced log processing (sonic waveform, image, NMR).

  • Ability to derive robust petrophysical parameters and facies for static models and ISD.

  • Familiarity with evaluating casing and cement bond logs and ensuring log data compliance.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within multidisciplinary subsurface teams.
