🏗 About the Role

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer – Design (Structural Steel) to join its Buildings & Factories (BNF) division at Chennai Headquarters.

The role involves delivering steel design calculations and drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and constructability requirements while supporting optimized and cost-effective structural solutions.

🎯 Role Summary

Deliver structural steel design calculations and detailed drawings in line with national and international standards, ensuring quality, safety, and constructability.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

🔹 Structural Design

• Perform steel member and connection design
• Develop detailed design reports
• Review structural drawings for accuracy and compliance

🔹 Coordination & Collaboration

• Coordinate with detailing and fabrication teams
• Work closely with internal design and drafting teams for timely deliverables
• Interface with consultants and vendors for drawing validation and technical inputs

🔹 Optimization & Client Interaction

• Support design optimization for economical solutions
• Participate in technical discussions with clients
• Ensure constructability and code compliance

🤝 Key Interactions

Internal Stakeholders:

• Design and drafting teams for accurate and timely project delivery

External Stakeholders:

• Consultants and vendors for design validation and support

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

✅ Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Mandatory)
• Master’s in Structural Engineering (Preferred)
• Fluent English (spoken & written); regional language knowledge preferred

✅ Experience

• 6–10 years of experience in structural steel design
• Experience in industrialized construction systems
• Exposure to parametric modeling
• Team leadership experience preferred

💻 Technical Skills Required

• STAAD.Pro
• Tekla
• IDEA StatiCa
• Knowledge of IS Codes, AISC, Eurocodes
• Steel member and connection design expertise
